এর অর্থ , হলো , উল্লেখ্য করা বস্তুকে শব্দের রেফারেন্স বলা হয় ।
এর ব্যাখ্যা আছে ,
Reference is a relationship between objects in which one object designates .
রেফারেন্স হলো , বস্তু সমূহের মদ্ধ্যে সমপর্ক স্থাপন করার নির্দেশনা/মানোনীত করে ।
The second object, the one to which the first object refers, is called the referent of the first object
২য় বস্তু , বা অবজেক্ট যার সাথে প্রথম বস্তু কে বোঝায় তাকে প্রথম বস্তুর রেফারেন্স বলা হয় ।

এটি হলো সেই জিনিষ যার মাদ্ধ্যমে , বোঝা যায় যে একজন ব্যক্তি সে যা বলে , তা মিথ্যারোপ করেছে কিনা , এটা বোঝার উপায় ।
যেমন WIkipedia বলছে ,
The burden of proof (Latin: onus probandi, shortened from Onus probandi incumbit ei qui dicit, non ei qui negat) is the obligation on a party in a dispute to provide sufficient warrant for their position.
এটির ব্যক্ষা হলো ,
When two parties are in a discussion and one makes a claim that the other disputes, the one who makes the claim typically has a burden of proof to justify or substantiate that claim especially when it challenges a perceived status quo .
যখন , ২ জন ব্যক্তি , আলোচনার মদ্ধ্যে কোন কিছুর দাবী করে , আর তখন আরেকজন সেটির বিরুধীতা করে , তখন যে দাবী করেছে তাকে সেই দাবীর সত্যতা প্রমান পেশ করতে হবে । এবং , সেটি ন্যয়সংগত হেতে হবে ।
